UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT CARMEN LEONG, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
Sciences Po | Le Havre, France | Advancing SDG 4, SDG 10 & UNAI 9
" The Millennium Fellowship will motivate me to and engage more deeply with my campus city, Le Havre. As an international non-Francophone student, my involvement has largely been limited to campus initiatives, but the Fellowship will provide the opportunity to better understand the local community’s needs. By bridging my global experiences, particularly from Singapore, with local contexts, I hope to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of marginalized youth in Le Havre. This program will allow me to expand both my impact and perspective, equipping me with the tools to drive change both locally and globally. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Langues et Cultures Européennes Collège Claude Bernard
The aim of this program is to expose underprivileged middle school students in Le Havre, France to the diverse cultures, histories, and traditions of Europe and Asia, while enhancing their English language skills through engaging, interactive, and cross-cultural activities
. By leveraging the skills and networks of Sciences Po Le Havre undergraduate students, the program will offer a unique, transformative opportunity for the youth to explore the connections between these important regions in the world, broaden their perspectives, and develop critical thinking and language skills.
Over five interactive modules that will take place over a total of 30 weeks, students will explore diverse themes from Europe and Asia — from traditional festivals and art to mythology and global issues. Each module combines multimedia content, hands-on activities, and interactive discussions, helping students understand and appreciate the similarities and differences between these rich cultural landscapes. By merging language learning with cultural immersion, the program not only builds English proficiency but also develops critical thinking, creativity, and global awareness. This holistic approach aims to create confident, culturally aware young individuals, empowering them to thrive in the increasingly interconnected world of the future.
