" "Passion, creativity, and support is what drives my interest in public health and advocating for environmental sustainability. Getting to be a part of Millennium Fellows will make my ideas turn into reality with the help and support of the UN sustainability mission. I am excited to see how this project can be taken beyond the college campus level and hit nationwide and eventually on a global scale. " "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The Delivery Bag Initiative
My project is to find an issue to reduce unnecessary waste of non-woven delivery bags in China. While these bags are necessary and are already a reduction in plastic bags, they are actually still being thrown out after single-use. I believe this issue can be resolved in different ways such as the delivery bag collection center along with reusing or repurposing these durable bags. During these months, I would like to work with the Meituan company (food delivery company in china) to work on creating possible solutions to reduce waste of their non woven bags. I am still trying to set up collection centers or collection boxes right next to the delivery lockers, bags should be cleaned and returned if to establishments if possible. As a student, I would first like to try and implement my sustainability plan of delivery bag waste on my school campus and dorm resident halls. Food delivery is so popular among every community so this project will not only affect those in my school or those who live at dorms, but also everyone who decided to order food delivery. I would like to first help tackle this issue in my community but eventually Shanghai, and even China. I am very ambitious about this project since I want to see these bags be reused, recycled, or repurposed.
