New York University Shanghai | Shanghai, China | Advancing SDG 4 & UNAI 6

" Community is the backbone of learning. With the emergence of AI tools, the educational sector is being severed by the feeling of uncertainty, gradually losing the importance of the student-teacher relationship. The skills and experiences I gain from the Millennium Fellowship will help my community strengthen the trust and efficiency of students’ journeys in preparing for the 4th Industrial Revolution. I am quite excited to learn from my peers and kickstart the AI dialogue and usage in my community! "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Importance of AI and Pedagogy for Students
The project aims to improve transparent, ethical, and accessible use of artificial intelligence at NYU Shanghai in alignment with SDG 4: Quality Education. As AI tools become central to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, students increasingly rely on them for learning and research. However, inconsistent course policies and limited communication create confusion and hinder effective use.
To address this, the project proposes establishing an AI Policy Board composed of faculty from multiple disciplines and elected student representatives. The board will standardize AI-usage statements across all courses, evaluate emerging AI tools for ethical alignment, and distribute regular updates on workshops, competitions, and campus resources. By building a clear governance structure, the project supports responsible innovation, strengthens academic integrity, and ensures that all students have equitable access to high-quality AI education.
