" I want to work because I've seen, first-hand, how even small actions can spark change. From leading community initiatives as a student to observing landmark cases at the Supreme Court, I've learned that law is not just about rules it’s about people, their struggles, and their hopes. I'm committed to using my skills to challenge injustice, uplift voices that are often unheard, and create solutions that open doors for everyone, not just a few. Every step I take is driven by the belief that a fairer, more inclusive world is possible and worth fighting for. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Childhood Without Chains
Childhood Without Chains is a social impact initiative aimed at addressing child labour and promoting every child’s right to education and dignity. The project focuses on creating awareness among local communities and vendors about the legal and moral consequences of employing children. We conducted workshops in nearby areas and schools to sensitize people about child rights under the Juvenile Justice Act, the Right to Education Act, and Article 21A of the Indian Constitution. Our goal is to empower children to dream beyond labour by collaborating with NGOs, legal aid centres, and community volunteers. Through awareness drives, street plays, and interactive sessions, we hope to build a community that recognizes childhood as a time for learning and growth not labour.
About the Millennium Fellow
Himadri Tomar, a third year law student of Symbiosis Law School, Noida, believes in employing law as a tool for positive change. Though her area of interest is women empowerment and child protection, she envisions transforming various social issues with just as much passion. After gaining experience at the Supreme Court of India and collaborating with NGOs, she has seen how the law can change people's lives. From her school years of community leadership to her current work on critical issues of the law, Himadri is dedicated to designing and working for inclusive, equitable, and just systems in which all people can live with dignity and opportunity.
