" The Millennium Fellowship is a platform to bring forth this initiative by providing mentorship, collaboration, and resources to drive impactful change. I will educate consumers and collaborate with artisans, entrepreneurs, and eco-friendly brands to promote ethical alternatives. Encourage responsible habits like recycling, upcycling, and mindful shopping. Being a law student, I will advocate for policy-level change to integrate sustainability into mainstream fashion. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: T.H.R.E.A.D
Ever wondered How Harmful Fashion Can be to the planet? THREAD is all about making sustainable, easy, and affordable fashion choices accessible to everyone. We aim to help people build capsule wardrobes, style outfits creatively, and choose Eco-friendly alternatives without compromising on style. Our initiative focuses on social media awareness and conducting surveys to understand shopping habits. Beyond that, we address everyday practices like ditching plastic bags and properly disposing of old clothes and makeup to reduce waste. Fashion often comes at the cost of not just the environment but also to animals, as many products are made through a cruel and nonchalant manner. To challenge this, we are launching the " Live in Reality" campaign. Through brand collaborations, local artisan support, and social media outreach, aim to educate and inspire young people to embrace sustainable fashion choices that are ethical, responsible and conscious of their impact.
About the Millennium Fellow
Kaavya Sarin, a third-year law student at Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA, is involved in diverse fields such as fashion, which today attracts many young minds and inevitably ties back to our patterns of consumption. With climate change accelerating and the world around us transforming, she often reflects on how our consumption impacts the Earth, whether our efforts are enough, and if we are truly in a position to make a difference. Studying law as a touchstone of utilitarianism, she hopes to work in ways that leave a lasting impact on public welfare, ultimately raising her contributions into the arms of Mother Earth.
