Millennium Fellowship Project: InJustUs
I, along with a few of my friends have planned to start a project named 'InJustUs' which translates to 'justice with us' and reflects the belief that anyone facing injustice is not alone and we, as the youth, stand with them. We aim to focus majorly on SDG target 16.3 that aims to promote rule of law at national and international level. InJustUs will be a student-led initiative focusing on raising awareness about legal rights like protection against domestic violence, workplace harassment, discrimination, and access to government schemes. As law students, we have seen how so many people, particularly people from marginalised backgrounds or teenagers, lack awareness about their rights or how to seek help. Through awareness sessions on our campus and in nearby communities, we aim to simplify legal topics like filing of FIRs, dealing with harassment and knowing one’s rights as a worker or student. We’ll also share social media posts to expand our reach and collaborate with our university’s legal aid society to set up a monthly anonymous “legal help desk†on campus. Our goal is to make the law less intimidating and more empowering.
