" My goal is to empower women in underserved communities by raising their awareness of their legal rights. I believe that informed women can challenge injustice, shape their own futures and inspire change within their communities. Through the Millennium Fellowship, I hope to amplify this mission and create a lasting impact. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Nyaya Setu

The project stems from my encounters with various people, especially with women, during my internships as a law student. I still remember when I first went out on a field trip when I was interning at the Delhi Commission for Women, we went from door to door in the underserved areas of the the capital of India. Our task was to talk with them, know they are well taken care of, aware of the schemes the government has for them, whether they are availing it or not and ask if they have any problems. That is when I came to know women of these regions are scared, being abused by their partners or family even when they are old but still not ready to take our help or take a stand for themselves or even know if they have a legal right to fight that injustice. That's when I decided to start creating awareness about legal, financial and human rights, help them be a legal literate and take a stand for themselves against injustice. Through this project, I will create awareness, organise campaigns, provide legal aid to the needy and let
them know that we are there for you.
