" Innovation and societal impact, along with many other core values, are at the heart of both the UN Millennium Fellowship and my personal vision. Being part of the Millennium Fellowship will not only allow me to contribute meaningfully towards these shared goals but also enhance my ability to create sustainable change. Collaborating with like-minded Campus Fellows will provide an environment of mutual learning, idea exchange, and collective action. This synergy will enable us to design impactful solutions, address pressing societal challenges, and align our initiatives with the Fellowship’s mission of advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through this platform, I aim to strengthen my leadership, expand my global perspective, and turn innovative ideas into tangible results for the communities we serve. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: NYAYA SETU

When I entered into my college, I joined community legal care and literacy cell, which basically contributes to the key areas of Legal Awareness, Capacity Building Sessions, Dispute Resolution and Legal Consultation & Legal Aid. I initiated the project of NYAYA SETU which basically aims at providing legal aid at the nearby villages of Pune. We also regularly collaborates with the District Legal Services Authority, Pune in order to organize the National Lok Adalat where 1000's of small cases are resolved in a single day in an efficient manner providing justice to all. These are forums where disputes/cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage are settled/ compromised amicably. Thus the project acts as a link between the underprivileged and justice and works at the very grassroot level to facilitate access to justice for all. We also conduct awareness about societal issues in villages and rural schools around Pune and in Maharashtra and thereby guiding them the legal course of action and strategy for the same

About the Millennium Fellow

Neha Joshi is an enthusiastic social worker who is a 3rd year law student at Symbiosis Law School Pune. She was born and brought up in Hubli Karnataka, and is now studying her law degree from Pune Maharashtra. For her, the dream towards free legal aid and access to justice for all people with minimum or no cost began when her maid expressed concerns about the unaffordable legal system and lack of justice towards her and her family in childhood. This drove her to join law course and help people by joining the pro-bono club and introducing the project named - NYAYA SETU ( legal bridge ) to all her club members, by giving free legal aid to the vulnerable communities, especially to women, mental health patients, prisoners and educating people about their rights by conducting legal awareness sessions in schools and villages. Thus, she is deeply passionate about the social change she wants to bring in by ensuring effective and accessible justice for all thereby, contributing towards the Sustainable Development Goal – SDG 16, i.e., Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
