" As the biography in the previous slide mentioned, India has shown me mainly two kinds of people. One being the wealthy, that are comfortable and can provide themselves and their family with riches, and the other kind, that can barely even provide their children with basic education. I believe that if anything, at least basic education is a right for each and every human being to be able to live their life, especially now in a world of such hyper competitiveness where even people that graduate from the best of institutions don't get jobs. With the power vested in me by the Millennium Fellowship program, my friends and I wish to try and bring about a change. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Vidyā sarvebhyaḥ (Education for everyone)
"VidyÄ Sarvebhyaḥ" or "education to all": Under this idea we believe that education is not supposed to be a luxury, but a necessity to all young ones. Therefore we aim to promote an inclusive environment where we can provide quality education by working with schools and NGOs to reach the underprivileged children that are almost invisible to society and show them their true untapped potential. We will be organising special activities and mentoring sessions weekly for the children in order to help their skill development, career guidance and for them to discover their inner passions and strengths. By the end of our project we aim to ensure that most children have an idea of what they are capable of and don't feel limited in any way. We will include dance, art, music and talent shows so that they can express themselves. We hope that these activities can help them become best versions of themselves. Our project "Vidya Sarvebhya" focused on providing for the young, less privileged school children with necessary supplies, love, care and attention they deserve.
We also conducted various fun events with gift prizes for the children.
About the Millennium Fellow
Nikhil Khandolkar, currently 19, aspires to be a great entrepreneur in the future. Born in Goa, india but soon shifted abroad in the middle east, Nikhil did not know much of life in India. He lived a comfortable life surrounded by people that were doing well in their lives. Only when he did come back at the tender age of 8 did he see the difference in the lifestyles of people. He saw the difference in the way people lived and how prevalent the class divide among people here was. He realised that the life he had been living was a life of privilege and that not everyone had it this easy. Now with the power vested in him through the Millennium Fellowship programme, he and his friends believe they can make a difference.
