" I believe the zeal and craving for reform that exists in my generation is the Unique Selling Point if we were commodities. A platform that gives us an opportunity to enact and work on improving just that is an opportunity one with passion looks for, always. Being mentored and guided by those who came before us with the same spark not only helps vett our skills and ability to carry out tasks but also gives us the warm assurance that there is still good in this world "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Janasangama
Janasangama, our think tank, means the congregation of people in unity. Our project aims to conduct research, create awareness and also implement the policies through assessments made by the team. JanaSnagama we plan to undertake actionable tasks involving the community. We seek to address SDG goals of Sustainable cities, reducing inequalities and measures to tackle poverty. Based in a metropolitan city, our team has identified the confluence of all of these issues as major goals that if worked towards will help our community to become a sustainable city while at the same time ensuring it becomes a model city by reducing inequalities for the people that make up the community.
Its work includes projects such as Building Sustainable Bengaluru: One Raindrop at a Time, which studies and addresses urban flooding through civic research, stakeholder consultations, and policy recommendations aligned with SDG 11; Empowering Underprivileged Girl Children through Financial Literacy and Cyber Safety Education, implemented at Sharanya Children’s Home to reduce informational inequality and advance SDGs 4, 5, and 10 by equipping girls with essential life skills; and Native Species Plantation Drives, a community-based environmental initiative aimed at restoring Bengaluru’s ecological balance by reintroducing indigenous plant species, engaging over 1000 families, and promoting long-term environmental sustainability. Together, these projects reflect Janasangama’s commitment to participatory governance, inclusive development, and building resilient, equitable, and sustainable urban communities.
About the Millennium Fellow
Ganitha is a 'force of energy' as described by her high school teachers. Currently in her 3rd of Law School, she is looking for ways to give back to the community that she was brought up in the suburbs of Bangalore, India. With the privileged of being able to participate in MUNs from a very young age to now being on the other side of the dias as Executive Board for high impact committees her journey helps give a new dimension to an already frolicking person, handing her a whole new deck of cards, to bring about positive change and press on key issues around the world. When not in the spotlight for policy change you can find her discovering a new cafe or food joint, experiencing new flavours over long conversations about cats, flowers and what not.
