" I believe technology should serve people first. My project turns surplus home-cooked meals into income for rural women, tackling food waste and inequality. The Millennium Fellowship will help me scale this vision and connect with change makers committed to building a more equitable world. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: SHEF - Supporting Housewives' Empowerment through Food

The aim of this project is to support the housewives of the area by introducing a small scale food supply chain over a 4 month period. Through this we can ensure that the housewives earn a daily income and people get delicious home cooked meals at an affordable rate. Here is how the whole operation will work. The housewives will cook extra food than usual and pack it in clean containers or banana leaves. They will drop of the food at collection point (a nearby school, community center, anganwadi etc) or volunteers will go around houses collecting the food. All the collected food will be sold by setting up a simple stall near a busy place like bus stops, school gates etc. Finally, the money earned will be distributed accordingly.
