" Human connection is highly important in our lives. By helping people relate to those who came before us, there is a greater sense of connection and community. The Millennium Fellowship is a wonderful platform to build my skills and reach out in collaboration with others on SDGs and other passion-driven projects. I would also love to see and participate in the progress my colleagues make on their own projects. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Culture & Tradition to Live By

I have recently been experiencing the culture & traditions of my home continent in a new way. I want more people to see that while not all of it may be good, neither is it as bad or obsolete as they have been taught. I believe there is a reason these traditions repeat in various iterations in many cultures—that they worked for the majority of people the majority of the time. We are still people, and these traditions that provided guidelines for dealing with life's issues for those who came before can do the same for us. It is my goal to help others see this through posters at my university and social media posts, so we can adapt and update them to our current world.

About the Millennium Fellow

Venah Onyiego is a tenacious architecture student at The Technical University of Kenya, born and currently living in Kenya. Social dynamics and how people relate to each other are issues that she thinks about a lot, so much so that she almost went into the field of sociology and psychology. She wants to research on and build communities in which members feel included and fulfilled, providing a stable support for the building up of SDGs as well as more specialized development initiatives.
