Millennium Fellowship Project: Educating Secondary School Students on Menstruation

This project is aimed at educating secondary school students on Menstruation. The problem faced by many secondary school students is inadequate knowledge about menstruation.
This is caused by:
1. Lack of Comprehensive Sexuality Education: Many school curricula do not cover menstruation in detail.
2. Cultural Taboos and Stigma: In many cultures, menstruation is often stigmatized, leading to a lack of discussion and questions on this topic.
3. Parental Silence: Some parents may feel very uncomfortable talking to their children, especially girls, about menstruation.
4. Inadequate Resources: Some schools may lack proper resources, such as educational materials or trained educators, to teach effectively about menstruation.
5. Socio-Economic Factors: Students from lower socio-economic backgrounds may have less access to information and resources about menstruation.
The desired results of the project are:
1. Enhanced Knowledge: Students would gain knowledge about menstruation and how to take care of their menstrual health. 2. Reduced Stigma: There would be a decrease in the stigma around menstruation, fostering an open dialogue in schools and at home. 3. Parental Awareness: Increased parental understanding of menstruation, ensuring better communication about menstruation between parents and their children. 4. Accessible Menstrual Products: Provision of free or subsidized menstrual products in schools would ensure that all students have access when needed. 5. Supportive School Environment: Creation of a supportive environment where students feel comfortable discussing their menstrual health without fear of judgment.
