UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT RUBY QURESHI, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
University College London | London, United Kingdom | Advancing SDG 4, SDG 16 & UNAI 3

" I am excited to become a Millennium Fellow because it is a platform and community that allows students to connect and offer advice on a range of bright ideas and projects. The Fellowship is also an invaluable experience to learn from experts, and its diverse array of people within provides me with crucial insight into the varied experiences of people within our society. I would like to inspire and mobilise others to join my cause, and I believe the Fellowship gives me a platform and the skills to do so. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Access Initiative
I would like to create a project that increases accessibility to NHS services across London, however I would like to focus on providing information and support to vulnerable or marginalised communities. As a university student, I have a multitude of resources at my disposal to make my voice heard. For example, I could collaborate with the Medical Society at university to involve students in delivering healthcare guidance. I would also like to partner with charities, faith groups and NHS services to provide guidance to NHS services available to people, through talks, drop-in sessions, leaflets and tailored websites. With UCL having such a large and diverse cohort, we could create multilingual resources that can be distributed throughout communities in London. Getting volunteers would be simple, and they could help to assist community members in booking NHS appointments, managing prescriptions or solely understanding what support is available to them. I would especially like to focus on mental health services especially for university students, as as a student myself I have seen first-hand how fellow students choose to disregard their mental health concerns, fearing negative consequences if they receive help from professionals that can impact their studies.
