" Improving the delivery of education is a collaborative effort. Through the Millennium Fellowship I hope to learn from others and incorporate their unique perspectives into my project so that it may help as many people as possible. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Beyond The Books
This initiative tackles the guidance gap facing disadvantaged
sixth-form students at underfunded comprehensive schools.
Many lack timely advice on university, degree apprenticeships,
and super-curriculars (eg. scholarships, mentorships, and
internships) reducing their competitiveness. The project will build
an accessible website that curates high-impact opportunities
(e.g., upReach, SEO London, Laidlaw Scholarship, Zero Gravity,
Spring Weeks) and shows students how to discover and assess
similar programmes. Practical toolkits will include CV and
cover-letter guidance, application timelines, search strategies, and
signposting to credible resources. By raising awareness early and
improving application quality, the initiative aims to increase
applications and offers from selective programmes, strengthen
professional readiness, and widen participation in higher
education and quality apprenticeships. Impact will be tracked
through reach, completed applications, offer rates, and student
feedback.
