United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Tech4Good

Tech4Good is an independent project led by Thoun Thant Nandi, aiming to empower students from diverse fields of study and socioeconomic backgrounds to hone their STEM skills by developing projects that address one or more pressing societal issues. The project seeks to engage with various students in the UCLA community and empower them through technical training and networking opportunities throughout August to December 2025. The program will conduct 3 networking sessions and 5 training sessions. There will be a presentation mixer where participants will present their project to and receive feedback from a panel of experts. The project aims to reach around 50-100 students.

About the Millennium Fellow

Thoun Thant Nandi is an innovative and global-minded materials engineering student studying the University of California, Los Angeles. Born and raised in Myanmar, Thoun's perspective of the world was shaped by resilience through tumultuous political landscapes. For that reason, she has always been an outspoken proponent of justice, preservation of global heritage, and improving the quality of life. Striving preserve, protect, and improve, Thoun has been involved in multiple philanthropic projects in her high school years and cutting-edge research in her college years, the latter of which she aims to continue in the future. Thoun aspires to be in a professional field where she can continuously improve the quality of life and contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Goals.
