" “Every individual should have the ability to make informed decisions. I believe many people are held back from reaching their full potential due to a lack of access to information and education. Through work with the Millennium Fellowship and the cohort formed within it, I know we can work towards expanding access to knowledge and aid individual in making choices that further their capabilities.” "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Sexual Health and Education Outreach
The project would aim to educate the 15-24 age group on sexual health. Specifically the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. It would hopefully promote more open conversations about sexual health as it is currently a stigmatized issue which often leads people not to get the help they need. Education regarding contraceptive use and effectiveness would also be involved. STI’s and sexual health at large are a big issue largely because ignorance is the standard in society.
About the Millennium Fellow
Xavier Boldt is an ambitious and curious undergraduate at the University of California Los Angeles. He has a passion for learning, especially regarding the sciences, majoring in biology and aims to become a physician. Born in Fresno County California Xavier has remained in the area for the entirety of his life. Growing up in a historically underserved community and witnessing health disparities impact those around him has led him to develop a strong drive to enact change. High School gave him the opportunity to participate in clubs, activities, and discussions that led to change inside and outside the school environment. College will hopefully be a time of even greater advocacy. Xavier hopes that his future career in medicine will give him a greater stage in which to advocate from and that his work can directly remedy the issues he sees in his area.
