" "I believe that education and technology are powerful tools to create opportunities where they are most needed. As an Afghan girl, I have seen how barriers limit the voices and dreams of women and girls, and this drives my commitment to advocacy and innovation. Joining the Millennium Fellowship excites me because it provides a global platform to strengthen my leadership, collaborate with change makers, and contribute meaningfully to the Sustainable Development Goals." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Seeds of tomorrow

An area of social concern to me is access to quality education in Afghanistan for girls. I have been born and raised here, and from my firsthand experience, I note that conflict, poverty, and discrimination have historically acted as barriers preventing many children, especially girls, from going to school. It breaks my heart seeing young girls with dreams of becoming educators, doctors, social workers, or businesspersons being denied their right to learn and grow and contribute as a member of society. Education is more than reading and writing. It is hope. It is power. It builds peace and development. Education means better health for families, stronger communities, and brighter futures. But unfortunately, most Afghans think of education as privileges rather than rights. I feel so strongly about this because I have seen the difference that education makes. I have seen how one teacher or a little classroom can transform lives. That is why I want to be involved in the solution. I believe all of us have a role that includes providing access to education for all, particularly in places where it is most needed-teaching, organizing in the community, raising our voices.
