" “Bringing out creative solutions while being a great person to converse with is my forte. This personality trait of mine will encourage the underprivileged kids to engage in education that is fun. Spreading smiles and creating inspiring success stories is sure going to make me cry, what more would I want!" "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Aratrika
Project Aratrika is aimed at saving street children who are victims of substance abuse. This will be done by collecting volunteers who are willing to go and identify street children indulging in substance abuse (such children are to be found almost everywhere from metro stations to tea stalls). The volunteers will then take details of the children and report it to the police and other institutions. These children in the later course would be transferred to orphanages or be provided help by NGOs. The aim is to also collaborate with NGOs like the Kailash Satyarthi organisation which will provide them education and support. Collaboration with rehabilitation centers is also one of the aims. A helpline number would also help the volunteers to tackle a larger population. Through this project, we would not only be saving the street children from substance abuse but also child labour and a life deprived of education as this is very common in children who provide labour. We will be making sure everyone is aware of their rights and making full use of them.
