Millennium Fellowship Project: Raising Awareness on Child Labour
Creating Awareness on the Impact of child labour My project is about helping people understand the real effects of child labor and the importance of education for every child. I chose to focus on communities along the coast, where many families struggle with poverty, unemployment, and limited access to education. Because of these challenges, some parents send their children to work at a young age without realizing how much it can harm their future. To address this, I organize awareness campaigns and visit communities from house to house. I talk directly with parents, guardians, and even children about what child labor really means — its causes, its effects, and the laws that protect children. I also encourage parents to see education as an investment in their children’s future, not a burden.
The main goal of my project is to open people’s eyes to the dangers of child labor and inspire them to make better choices for their children. I want to:
• Educate families about the impact of child labor on children’s health, education, and well-being.
• Encourage parents to send their children to school and support their learning.
• Raise awareness about child labor laws and children’s rights.
• Help break the cycle of poverty through education and community empowerment.
This project is already helping to change how people think about child labor in my community. Parents are becoming more aware of its dangers, and more children are being encouraged to stay in school. I believe that by continuing these efforts, we can build stronger families, better futures, and a community where every child has the chance to learn, grow, and dream.
