Millennium Fellowship Project: Empowering Women and Children With Disabilities
Empowering women and children with disabilities through awareness creation about the concept of disability ,education and building building supportive environments. In the next years to come when I get the necessary support or when my project is funded I look forward to adding training sessions to my awareness campaign sessions and supporting them in any way I find helpful.
About the Millennium Fellow
Sakinatu Alhassan is a young lady,very smart and hardworking student studying Community Based Rehabilitation and Disability Studies at the University of Education Winneba in Ghana. She was born and raised in Ghana, stayed at Akwatia in the Eastern Region of Ghana and moved to Suhum in the Eastern Region of Ghana but currently pursuing her tertiary education at University of Education Winneba, North campus to be precise. Sakinatu has also been passionate about advocating for social justice, gender equality and children empowerment. This passionate came about as a result of how and where Sakinatu was raised. Growing up Sakinatu noticed lots of social injustices within her community especially in class.She saw how people were treated based on differences from ethnicity, economic status, family history, gender and many more. Sakinatu has always prayed for a platform to share her opinion on the aforementioned themes.Sakinatu has been a great leader from her basic school to her senior high secondary school and hoping to take any leadership role on her journey. Sakinatu believes in this strong old adage which says 'When there's a will there's a way' and 'What is worth doing at all is worth doing well. Sakinatu will humbly do her very best to make this journey a success because that is what she always does.
