UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT MPHO RAAT, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW AND CAMPUS DIRECTOR FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
University of Fort Hare | Alice, South Africa | Advancing SDG 4, SDG 2 & UNAI 6

" I am excited to join the Millennium Fellowship because it connects me with a global community of change makers. I work to support underfunded students by turning waste into profit, which we donate to a food bank to provide meals and opportunities for those in need that way they won't have to stressing about when their next meal is.
Being a Millennium Fellow excites me because it allows me to learn, grow, and amplify impact alongside inspiring peers. We use profits from waste-based projects to support food banks for underfunded students, helping them thrive in school and life. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: SusOnTheGo
SusOnTheGo is an organisation based at the university of Fort Hare that mainly aims to tackle the littering problem our campus faces and using our solutions to address student hunger. It aims to educate students on the importance of recycling and making use of bims in the form of seminars. One of the biggest problems we aim to tackle is the waste management system our campus lacks. Not only that, the ultimate goal is to introduce a recycling system in student residence as well and this is to be achieved by reaching out to other waste management companies for assistance with obtaining recycle bins. The waste that is to be collected is to be sold for profit, and that profit is to be used to address issues like student hunger using food banks. We also aim to implement a gardening project.
