" I've always been driven to make a meaningful impact. What's changed is my realization that I can start now, even with small steps ,it's better to begin working towards my goals than to wait for the perfect moment. My experience volunteering to teach in a rural community in the Volta Region further fueled my passion. I believe that even small efforts can collectively lead to significant change. I'm thrilled to be part of this fellowship, as I'm confident it will equip me with the skills and training needed to become a leader who drives substantial impact. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Edubridge- LOOKING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
THE OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECTS The project is to empower young children and bridge the gap between education and , The program introduces structured mentorship schemes linking students with role models, career guidance workshops, and personal development activities. These interventions help students build self-confidence, discover their strengths, and develop essential soft skills that complement formal education. To ensure that learning continues outside the classroom, the initiative includes the creation of community-based study and skill hubs. These hubs equipped with books, digital devices, and solar power will serve as safe spaces where students can study, access learning materials, and participate in educational clubs. They will also help overcome challenges such as lack of electricity, scarcity of textbooks, and the absence of supportive learning environments at home. By situating these hubs within community centers, the project encourages shared ownership and involvement.
Community participation forms another pillar of the solution. Parents and local leaders will be engaged through workshops that highlight the importance of education and equip them to support their children's learning. This approach ensures cultural alignment and strengthens the sustainability of the project.
Overall, the project will integrate teacher development, student mentorship, community involvement, and practical infrastructure into a unified model. By addressing the root causes of educational inequality in rural areas limited in exposure, weak support systems, poor resources, and low motivation. the initiative will create a supportive ecosystem that nurtures academic success and personal growth. Ultimately, this holistic intervention empowers rural learners to realize their potential and increases their chances of progressing to higher education and future careers.
WHAT I STARTED WITH.
During the fellowship, I engaged with children on their future career opportunities and motivated them. I did mostly that in the urban areas because I also noticed similar trends of inefficient exposure, lack of motivation, and inadequate knowledge of self study/personal initiative to develop one's strength and capabilities
