" "It goes without doubt that having a conducive environment, the right approach, and the right skills drives the success of any project. I'm honored to be part of the Millennium Fellowship because it recognizes youth as agents of positive change, and it affirms my zeal to make a lasting impact. With MCN’s leadership training and networking opportunities, I believe I can make The Project 3Ms Initiative a success, showing Africa that mental health is not a myth but a priority." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project 3Ms Initiative

PROJECT 3Ms (MY MENTAL-HEALTH MATTERS) is an initiative focused on promoting mental health awareness and contributing to SDG 3, which emphasizes good health and well-being. It recognizes that health includes mental well-being, which is often overlooked in Africa, including Ghana. Mental health is a universal right, yet in Ghana, it is under prioritized. Project 3Ms aims to improve the mental health of students on campus, where many face issues like depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and self-harm, but lack support due to stigma, ignorance, and limited institutional care. The project’s goal is to establish an anonymous campus club that creates a safe space for students to connect, share, and receive professional help without fear of judgment. It will also host awareness events using music, poetry, theatre, painting, and dance to spread its message and highlight the role of the arts in social change. Project 3Ms plans to work with school authorities and student bodies to introduce mental health awareness weeks into academic calendars. The initiative believes mental well-being is key to personal and societal growth. How individuals with mental health conditions are treated affects their recovery. Its mantra, “Tech Is Cool But So Is Empathy,” emphasizes the need for empathy alongside innovation.
