" "Coming from an environment where it seems impossible to be impactful or create some change is often very limiting in many ways, as it affects the psychology, drive and ability of individuals. This fellowship, on the other hand, creates the perfect environment for ambitions to be realised and for change to be made." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The Parity Collective
The idea is to promote the conscious ability of the female child in realising they are more than what society says. Society tends to create an image on the mind of young girls, especially those of a lower social standing, that they are not as capable as men. The goal is to preach female empowerment, especially to the group stated, and to young growing boys, by education, mentoring and through active support.
About the Millennium Fellow
Joseph Mawuli Ekene Aniefuna is a dedicated student of political science and philosophy at the University of Ghana, with the ambition of pursuing international politics or law in the near future. He traces his roots to the Anambra State in Nigeria and Agbozome in the Volta Region of Ghana. He has always been an advocate for gender equity and equality and believes, mostly through observation and research, that women are disproportionately affected by the patriarchal system and greatly influenced by it, and, therefore, is committed to battling this systemic problem in any way he can.
