Millennium Fellowship Project: Antimicrobial Resistance

My project - An antimicrobial resistance; focuses on understanding why some bacteria, viruses, and other microbes can withstand treatment with antimicrobial drugs like antibiotics. Here's the problem: when microbes become resistant, the drugs we usually use to treat infections no longer work effectively, making it harder to cure illnesses. The project typically involves researching how resistance develops and spreads, finding new ways to detect resistant microbes, and developing alternative treatments or preventive measures. The goal is to slow down the spread of resistance, ensure effective treatments remain available, and improve public health by preventing the rise of so-called "superbugs" that are difficult to treat. This involves collaboration between researchers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers.
