Millennium Fellowship Project: Gemcares: Empowering Teenagers

This project focuses on training teenagers in practical craft skills to enable them earn income for themselves while still in school. The training included millinery, specifically fascinator making, as well as the production of hair accessories and bow making for items such as bow ties, bow hair scrunchies, and related products. The project aligns with SDG 1, No Poverty, by equipping young people with income-generating skills that require very little start-up capital. With these skills, participants can begin small-scale businesses, support themselves financially, and reduce dependence on others. The long-term vision of the project is to make it a regular program so that more teenagers and young adults can be reached and empowered over time.
