Millennium Fellowship Project: Aunty Check Your Bodi!
"Aunty, Check Your Body!" You know how in the market, when someone looks tired, other women will be like, "Aunty, I hope you have eaten? Are you okay?" This will be the pattern this initiative will follow but we would turn it into something serious; preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and stroke among market women. Our mothers, aunties, and sisters in the market are the backbone of many homes. But most of them do not check their Blood pressure or sugar levels until something scary happens. So, we are bringing free health talks, and even health screenings to encourage them to take their health seriously. My team and I will visit the market leaders first, because we cannot just show up without their support to avoid problems. We would also partner with community pharmacies and health centers so that after the screenings, these women will have a place to go for follow-up. I believe this would help the women gain more insight about their health and prevent any future ailment.
