" As someone who's always wondered how I could be of help to society and how I could make an impact in it, joining the Millennium Fellowship only felt right. I'm looking forward to the impactful lessons, skill enhancements, and the motivation to make a difference. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Lancelot

Project Lancelot is a project that's primarily directed at the young boys of secondary school age. This project is meant to help reduce the rate of gender- based violence and women oppression in the country by teaching the boys values that promote positive masculinity. What I plan to do is visit two to three or more secondary schools and organise a workshop session to educate the boys on different topics that relate to positive masculinity. If funds are available or millennium gives me a grant, I could also print colourful pamphlet in the colour of millennium containing the summarised lessons. This will include; emotional intelligence, importance of having cooking skills and not relying on someone else, the importance of physical and mental wellness, etc. I'll also like to debunk several stereotypes and false definitions of masculinity. As I said in round one, Nigeria is a conservative country so while I'd like to also touch on the issue of homophobia and the patriarchy, I've made up my mind to ensure I don't say anything that might cause too much controversy and an uproar leading to my efforts being in vain. I will bring everything up but in a subtle, non-threatening way.
