University of Benin | Benin City, Nigeria | Advancing SDG 4 & UNAI 6

" "I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it is the catalyst I need to turn my personal mission into a sustainable movement. My passion stems from being part of a community where I witnessed how a lack of reading culture limits a child's potential, and I believe that by simply igniting a love for reading, we can empower a new generation to shape a more knowledgeable and equitable future.. This Fellowship will help me sharpen my leadership, expand my impact, and contribute meaningfully to advancing SDG 4—Quality Education.” "
Millennium Fellowship Project: IgniteTheReadingFlame Initiative
In one way or another, I have always found myself naturally helping young ones and even my peers academically in my community and without any thought to receiving a reward for it. Through this I noticed that young people don't like to read and because of this, they miss out on a lot of information. This lack of interest in reading sparked an idea in me, what if i could make reading something kids want to do more often , not just something they have to do for school. That is what my project 'IgniteTheReadingFlame' Initiative is about. My project seeks to increase a passion for reading from when they're little, showing them how awesome it is both for school and just for learning about anything that interests them in the long run. The project is focusing on children younger than 15 years, also parents and teachers who play a vital role in nurturing a reading culture at home and in school. The overall goal is to improve quality education and help to cure ignorance in my community. This would be achieved through awareness campaigns and provision of reading materials and resources that support and inspire the habit of reading.
