University of Benin | Benin City, Nigeria | Advancing SDG 3 & UNAI 3

" America philosopher and poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson stated that the purpose of life is not to be just to happy but to be useful, honorable, and compassionate. I want to play my part in creating a community favourable for young people to grow, dream and excel. Becoming a Millennium Fellow will equip me with the skills I need to be useful. Connecting and working with like minded individuals will broaden my horizons and improve my communication and cooperative skills. Taking on roles and making decisions will build my leadership skills. I am excited. I can't wait. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Drug Abuse Awareness Campaign
My project aligns with SDG 3, target 3.5, and aims to combat drug abuse in my community by discouraging young people from starting and supporting current users to quit. The target audience includes older children, teenagers, and young adults. During the course of this project, we reached over 300 students, educating them about the meaning, causes, and dangers of drug abuse, while equipping them with tools to avoid falling into the habit.
