" Having experienced burnout and depression firsthand, I am passionate about promoting mental health and empowering individuals to thrive despite adversity. The Millennium Fellowship excites me because it provides a platform to turn my personal journey into collective impact—aligning my vision for mental wellbeing with the SDGs, while learning and collaborating with like-minded change makers across the globe. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Calmly
My project is called Calmly. I created it because I know how it feels to be overwhelmed by life's hard moments. Last year, I experienced depression for the first time, and what really helped me was the sound of nature and soothing music. I was that friend who needed a little comfort on those dark days. Calmly is designed for students dealing with everything from academic pressure and rejection to family struggles and personal hardships. It offers short videos of calming nature scenes, like a gentle rain or rustling leaves to help quiet your mind, along with a simple journal to help you understand and track your feelings, and daily motivational messages to remind you that you are not alone. Essentially, it is like having a caring friend available 24/7, ready to help you take small, healing steps when life gets too tough.

Itohan is eager to utilize her medical training, life experience, and growing interest in neuroscience to bring about positive change in mental wellbeing. Through the Millennium Fellowship, she would like to turn her passion into positive change in her community.
