" "Love is all we need, truly. And the love for pushing this out loud and clear is what drives me. I want everyone to know that no matter who they are or where they come from, they have the right to be part of technology and education. Technology is nothing without people, and education is infinite, so everyone has a place in this movement. I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because I will get the support and tools I need to carry on with this mission to make sure everyone feels and gets involved. I do the work I do because I love technology, and I was allowed to interact with technology and education, which has helped me in tremendous ways. I hate that people feel locked out of systems that are nothing without them, and I aim to help more people get involved. Technology and education are people." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Open Source Nest

My project is about making technology more inclusive so everyone, no matter their background, can access and contribute to it. The focus is on helping students and communities get involved in open-source projects in various ways, such as contributing their voice data, writing code, or offering other skills. For example, with Mozilla Common Voice, participants can help create datasets in local languages, making technology more available to underrepresented groups. We also want to raise awareness about Digital Public Goods (DPGs) available to students and communities. By learning about and using these tools, participants can use these free open products, gain new opportunities and impact their communities. Additionally, we’ll run a survey to understand different learning patterns, which will guide us in creating tools that make learning easier and more personalized. The overall goal is to build confidence, develop useful tech skills, and encourage participation in the digital world. This project is about breaking down barriers, promoting contributions to open-source, and promoting innovation. It aims to create change within our university and beyond, ensuring everyone has a chance to shape and gain from the growing world of technology regardless of their gender, abilities and identities.
