University of Lagos | Lagos, Nigeria | Advancing SDG 12 & UNAI 3

" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it’s a place where my ideas can actually come to life. Turning plastic waste into something useful isn't just a project for me, it’s proof that small changes can make a big difference. I do this work because I can’t ignore the waste I see every day, and this fellowship lets me work with others who believe we can turn that waste into hope and opportunity. For me, it’s about creating real solutions, inspiring people, and helping my community become cleaner and brighter. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: NEW MYTH
New Myth is a project that spoke about changing the narratives of PET bottles, to promote responsible consumption and to contribute to the climate world. These plastic bottles were feeble items that could be changed into phone cases, jewelry, bags and other usable items. The project focused on talking to people about the hazardous effects of plastic bottles in our community, Lagos, Nigeria, and how through arts and crafts with hard work, money can be made, to make things more easier for individuals involved, our environment, the ocean in particular will be cleaner through our efforts, and shed more light to the change of narratives to PET plastic bottles.
