Millennium Fellowship Project: Young and Becoming
Young & Becoming is a youth development initiative designed to equip young people with the skills, confidence, and mindset they need to succeed beyond the classroom. The project provides holistic, practical education that bridges the gap between school learning and real-life developmentāhelping young people understand themselves, build confidence, and grow into capable, purpose-driven adults.
Beyond academics, Young & Becoming focuses on realistic personal development: building self-esteem, discovering strengths, learning leadership, and developing lifelong skills that shape future success. The initiative exposes young people to areas often missing in traditional schooling, such as volunteering as a pathway to success, personal branding, career direction, goal-setting, mental resilience, and financial literacy.
Future editions will also explore digital skills, entrepreneurship, tech exposure, and hands-on workshops that widen opportunities for young people. Through conferences, mentorship, skill-based sessions, and interactive workshops, Young & Becoming aims to redefine education helping young people grow into confident, skilled, and empowered individuals capable of making meaningful contributions to their communities.
Young & Becoming supports key Sustainable Development Goals by promoting inclusive and equitable access to personal development (SDG 4: Quality Education), building leadership and confidence that empower young people especially girls in this edition (SDG 5: Gender Equality), expanding pathways to decent work and future employability through skills development (SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth), and reducing social and opportunity inequalities by providing knowledge, mentorship, and exposure to underserved youth (SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities).
