Millennium Fellowship Project: Creating Pace for Women's Voice
In a world where men, who are fathers only mastered the act of being in control than their parental responsibilities. The tolls are left on women who have to master the two as their only choice. They work all round the clock, protecting their pride and dignity by securing the position of father and also, that of mother in their children's lives. They work on both sides in terms of responsibility and also, performing their duties as wife. This shoulder on women an heavy work load to bear. Where as, they both have the same right on children. My project is to ensure all women have maternity access and rights, by creating awareness, which will serve as enlightenment to them, they need to be aware that their freedom begin from them, they need to know what they deserve, and how to claim it. Not making themselves a subject of sacrifice to the society's will. Also, increasing women's support by the government, if granted, to be adopted under the law as the priority to protect maternal rights. Also, a force law enforcing them to do what they supposed to do, additional punishment on them that will benefit the once abandoned family.
About the Millennium Fellow
Amirat Toriola is an inspiring, resilient, striving young lady. She is a student studying English Language in one of the prestigious universities in Nigeria, University of Ilorin. Prior to this time, Amirat has always been demonstrating the spirit of advocacy, and self actions within her capacity to fight the prejudice females are subjected to through societal laws and believe. She was never a comfortable person when it comes to any form of injustice. We are all humans after all, so people tends to over use it when opportunity is in their favour, even at the expense of others comfortability. Women specifically needs to know that societal opinion does not define them nor justify their strength. She always advocate for women to speak.
