" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because i have been hearing a lot, especially from my friend on the skills, knowledge, technical know-how, and various interactive opportunities the fellowship offers you,as a fellow. I'm looking forward to sharpen my skills and overall knowledge at the end of this fellowship, while also interacting with great like minds with similar passion and learning from them.
I'm passionate about Female adolescent, and maternal sexual and reproductive health because i have realised a lot of young girls are not equipped with the right knowledge and skills to begin with. Many of them do not have enough knowledge on what maternal morbidity and mortality is, the contributors to it and how to prevent unsafe sexual practices that will negatively affect their health. Knowledge, they say is power. I want to equip and empower women with the right knowledge and power to live well as citizens of their nation. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Female Sexual and Reproductive Health

My project involves Female Sexual and Reproductive Health.
It involves educating Female Adolescents on their Sexual health as they develop. It encompassed a comprehensive health talk on the various stages of sexual development from Childhood to adulthood, with focus on menstrual hygiene and tracking menstrual cycle.
It's also aimed at educating young girls to be confident in their body, while breaking the social stigma associated with menstruation.
There were distributions of Menstrual sanitary pads and fliers with calendars for them to be able track their periods monthly.
There was also a session I had, where I taught the secondary school girls on monthly self breast examinations, in a bid to reduce the incidence of Maternal mortality from breast cancer, as early detection, diagnosis and treatment saves lives.
This allows for the individual to live to fulfill their dreams and aspirations. This way, such individuals can make gainful impact on their society and even the country at large.
It also seeks to address market women and other women who are not aware of family planning practices. This is in a bid to reduce the occurrence of Maternal death from childbirth and unplanned pregnancies.
On the 20th of November,2025, I went in the company of some other members to Jalala Gago Junior Community High school located at Oke-odo, Tanke, Ilorin, Kwara State,Nigeria to carry out this project. The school authority received us in warm embrace and I was able to interact with the girls. The girls were so happy we came, as some shared their challenges, which I was able to address to the best of my ability and several questions on their minds were also answered.
It was a safe space for the girls, as we interacted and I'm so happy I was able to make meaningful impact.
I'm looking to continue this project in the future, God willing.
