" One thing strongly believe in is that no one knows it all, and I eagerly anticipate understanding the world not just through my own lens, but through the perspectives of others as well. I believe that being part of the Millennium Fellowship will immerse me in diverse communities and allow me to connect with people from various backgrounds. I am excited about the opportunity to tap into my potential to analyze situations and promote meaningful change together with others. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The S.A.G.E Project
The SAGE (Senior Advancement in Geriatric Education) Project is an enduring, multi-faceted advocacy and educational initiative committed to improving geriatric education and care in Nigeria.
The project's overarching Mission is to be the leading voice and resource for dignified aging in Nigeria, driving sustained change through education, policy advocacy, and community mobilization. The primary strategy involves a dual approach: digital outreach (via Instagram and future platforms) for broad public education and physical outreach (market and school engagements) for localized impact and needs assessment.
About the Millennium Fellow
Idris Safura Ademoh is a determined and adventurous young woman in her early 20s who possesses a profound curiosity about the world. Originally from Kogi State, Nigeria, she is fluent in three languages: English, Ebira, and Hausa. After beginning her medical studies in Sudan, she made the decisive choice to return to Nigeria when war erupted. Currently, she is pursuing a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ilorin.
Geriatric care has always been a central focus for her. Growing up in a developing country, she witnessed firsthand the challenges many face. While she is a staunch advocate for children's rights, she also recognizes the urgent need for improved care for the elderly, who are often left vulnerable. In developing nations, children and the elderly bear the brunt of life's harsh realities, suffering from circumstances such as war, famine, and more. This understanding drives her unwavering commitment to champion better geriatric care in Nigeria and worldwide.
Safura has been passionate about making a difference from a young age. As a college student, she is actively engaged in outreach programs and collaborations to gain insights into community issues. She is determined to understand these problems deeply so she can contribute effectively to their solutions.
