" Inclusivity is what attracted me the most, they made opportunities open to all irrespective of tribe or colour. Aside, I am glad to have been chosen to make an impact in degenerative diseases among nurses, which don't get the proper attention. Besides, it's a whole new ground of development to achieving a great feat in the clinical field. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project X: Where Collaboration Meets Impact
Project X is a youth-led outreach initiative designed to empower adolescent boys with accurate knowledge, emotional intelligence, and healthy behaviour mindsets. As Millennium Fellows from the University of Ilorin, we identified a gap in conversations around mental health, gender equality, adolescent development, and male-inclusive health awareness; especially in secondary schools.
Through an interactive 3.5-hour session at Government Secondary School, Ilorin, we engaged over 200 male students using storytelling, scenario-based learning, live demonstrations, and open discussion. Our topics covered Mental Health Awareness, Gender Equality and Male Allyship, Breast Cancer Awareness (including the fact that men can also be affected), and Adolescent Boy Empowerment.
