" I am elated to be a Millennium Fellow because I know that I am here to make an impact on the people around me!
I am here to solve problems and help out others. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Water Project

The Water Project was created to address the poor water quality in the school hostel. Before the intervention, students depended on untreated water that was visibly unsafe for drinking and daily use. As Millennium Fellows working towards SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, our goal was to provide a practical and sustainable solution that the school community could maintain long-term.

We installed a durable water filtration system in the hostel to ensure students have access to clean, safe water every day. A key part of the project’s sustainability is the design of the system: the filter cartridge can be replaced easily and costs less than 10% of the entire unit, making maintenance affordable and realistic for the hostel management.

The Water Project improves student health, reduces the risk of water-borne diseases, and sets a foundation for continued safe water access in the hostel.

About the Millennium Fellow

Hildru Zainab is a dedicated undergraduate student of Medical Laboratory Science at the university of Ilorin. She was born in Osun state, Nigeria.
I have known her to be an active, intelligent and passionate individual ready to render a helping hand to the people around her.
She is not just a student, she is a dedicated volunteer, an activist who is involved in many non governmental organisations, helping out the less privileged and fighting for the right of girl child.
A little fun fact about Zainab is that she loves reading mystery novels.
Lastly, the Zainab I know is a girl who built herself from the scratch and is always ready to help the underprivileged.
