" I'm thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow because I'm passionate about harnessing the power of media and community-driven initiatives to break the silence around mental health issues. Through this fellowship, I aim to amplify my impact, foster meaningful connections, and co-create solutions that promote emotional well-being and resilience. I'm excited to collaborate with like-minded individuals, leverage collective expertise, and contribute to a world where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Mindful Campus Initiative
Our project is a comprehensive student-led project designed to address the critical and growing mental health challenges on campus. History and observation show that students are significantly affected by issues like depression, anxiety, and stress, exacerbated by factors such as academic pressure, poverty, and relationship difficulties (heartbreak). As it stands, we have lost over 5 students to suicide hence the urgent need of this project.
Our multi-faceted approach includes awareness campaigns (seminars, posters), creative expression events (Mind & Mic Open Night), direct peer-to-peer outreach (door-to-door), and the establishment of a sustainable online support platform. Our mission is to create a university environment where mental health is openly discussed, support is readily available, and no student feels alone in their struggle.
We extended our project to secondary school students to spread awareness of mental health and to prepare them for career choices and university life so as to minimize stress in University.
