" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it’s a chance to learn, grow, and make a real difference beyond the classroom. I do this work because I've seen how simple knowledge about health and clean water can change lives, and I want to be part of making that change happen. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Aquarios

Project Aquarios is a student-led initiative under SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, aimed at promoting water safety and hygiene among junior secondary school students. On September 30, 2025, the project hosted an outreach event at University Demonstration Secondary School, Maiduguri, educating over 300 students on safe water storage, purification methods, handwashing, and sanitation practices to prevent waterborne diseases.
The event combined interactive workshops, practical demonstrations, and the distribution of basic water purification kits. By equipping students with knowledge and tools for better hygiene, Project Aquarios seeks to foster lasting behavioural change, improving health outcomes and inspiring communities to adopt safer water and sanitation practices.
