" I have always believed that the most meaningful work is done in collaboration with others. My role as Publicity Secretary for the UNIMED Journal Club has taught me the power of bringing people together to explore and share new ideas. I'm eager to become a Millennium Fellow to join a network of like-minded individuals who are passionate about creating a better world. I'm confident that the skills and insights I gain will help me amplify my own efforts and contribute to the collective mission of the fellowship "
Millennium Fellowship Project: SAFE CIRCLE CAMPAIGN
My project is a community project, that aims to raise awareness, by educating people on violence against women. Violence specifically directed against women is very common in my community. I have been informed of a man who brings his wife out to the market square and flogs her publicly if the husband says he has been offended. And the authorities have turned a blind eye, seeing it as a family matter. To reduce incidences like this, We’re going to start by sharing flyers on what constitutes violence against women, types of violence and recognizing signs. We will hold open air vahanas, share real stories and have women who have been victims, share their stories. So that everyone in the community understands the problem and how common it is. We will also work with the local law enforcement agencies in my community, the social workers and the health care workers. We will enlighten them on this problem and get promise of their availability and willingness to respond to victims, and meting out punishments for the abusers. We will also collaborate with psychologists to counsel these women and help them through this phase.
