United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

" Being a Millennium Fellow offers me a unique opportunity to gain targeted skills and experiences that will help me achieve my goals in advancing SDG 5 - Gender Equality, as well as my vision in Maternal and Child Health. As someone passionate about creating positive change, I'm pumped to expand the reach of my work and amplify its impact through the fellowship's resources and network. I'm passionate about what I do because it brings me a sense of fulfillment, knowing that I'm making a tangible difference in the lives of others. Through this fellowship, I'm confident that I'll be able to further my goals and make an even greater impact. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: HER LENS: FOCUSED, FEARLESS, INFORMED

My project was about enlightening, educating and empowering young female students in high school about becoming who they want to be without boundaries not limits. Through presentations, activities and so on, I was able to impact knowledge that will not leave their minds in a long while.

About the Millennium Fellow

Omowunmi Boluwatife Akanbi is a dedicated 5th year nursing student at Osun State University, Osogbo, Osun State with a strong passion for women's and children's health. During her academic journey, she has developed a deep commitment to improving the well-being of vulnerable populations, particularly in underserved communities. She actively participates in health outreaches, leadership and community engagement initiatives, demonstrating her enthusiasm for making a tangible impact and contributing to positive change. As an avid learner, Omowunmi continually seeks opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills, staying up-to-date with best knowledge and practices in healthcare to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care. With a strong foundation in nursing principles and a desire to collaborate with like-minded individuals, Omowunmi is poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and children, driving positive change and improving health outcomes in her career.
