Millennium Fellowship Project: Generation Zero
Generation zero is a project that aims at reducing the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Akwa Ibom over the next coming generations through a public awareness system that targets secondary school students. This helps bridge child-parent communication gap as some parents in our community find it uncomfortable discussing sex-related subjects with their children. Generation zero helps educate these children early before they become sexually active so that they can form the right attitude, behavior and mindset toward safe sex practice that will be sustained for long, having lasting impact on the next generation. Also, these students can help spread the awareness beyond the walls of their schools through peer influence. The project will span over a period of four months, when we will be visiting two secondary schools to sensitize the student and help them create a HIV/AIDS awareness club that will ensure the continuity of this awareness beyond the four months.
