" I do this work because I believe no life should be lost simply for lack of knowledge. The Millennium Fellowship excites me because it offers the platform, mentorship, and global network to scale my mission—empowering youths with the skills and courage to act when every second counts. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The Revive Project
In a society where people are often unaware of proper first aid practices, this project focused on training and equipping youth to respond promptly during emergencies. The target audience was primarily young people, followed by the general public.
During the Millennium Fellowship cycle, the project had three main goals: raising awareness and understanding of SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-Being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education) among students and community members; building a small team to sustain outreach beyond the Fellowship; and implementing at least two community-impact activities within the Fellowship timeline.
By the end of the project, 800 students were reached through a school seminar on basic emergency response and first aid, social media infographics, and collaboration with the Nigerian Red Cross Society. A committed team of student volunteers was also recruited to continue the project’s mission, conducting periodic visits to other secondary schools in the community to provide mini training sessions on first aid management.
About the Millennium Fellow
Growing up in a community where emergencies often met unprepared hands, Augustine Chidubem Ibegbu knew change was necessary. Now a 4th-year medical student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi, he serves as School Unit Coordinator for the Nigerian Red Cross Society, CHS Detachment Nnewi. Augustine has led initiatives from an epilepsy awareness seminar to an online training on emergency response, driven by a vision of young people as confident first responders. His mission is simple yet urgent: build a culture where every youth has the knowledge and courage to save lives.
