" Being someone that's afraid of taking the bold step, I'm excited to come across an opportunity as this that helps nurture and birth forth my hidden potential—being a part of the story I've always wanted to be rewritten. For such a rare quality privileged of speaking my voice and collaborating with the visions of UNAI and SDGs, I'm grateful and excited. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Healthy Environment, Healthy You

Waste is something we all deal with in our daily lives, whether it's tossing aside a piece of paper or getting rid of larger household items. As a student and someone who's becoming more aware of my impact, I notice both the waste around me and the waste I create—it’s just part of everyday life! This project is all about reaching out to fellow students, especially those in high school, and sharing some important tips on how to properly dispose of, manage, and recycle waste. It’s crucial because improper waste disposal can affect our health. Our environment is closely tied to our well-being, and as a medical student aiming to become a doctor, I think it’s important to pay attention to this often overlooked issue. Simple actions can make a big difference! Making sure we have affordable waste disposal bags, putting our trash in bins for proper collection, and recycling plastic bottles and cans can all help lower the harmful impacts of waste on our surroundings. Together, we can create a cleaner, healthier environment for ourselves and future generations!

About the Millennium Fellow

Obidigbo, Chiamaka Regina is a penultimate medical student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi. She is driven by her passion for a clean and thriving environment,as evidenced by uncaptured moments of always being on her toes till the waste gets disposed. She is easily irritated by a dirty environment as it affects her space and conduct negatively. Regardless of who's watching or available, she takes the move to ensure wastes are properly packed and kept till they're disposed. Driven by this desire, she's decided to put in the work and her voice as a quota of her contribution to effecting a positive change with respect to waste and its proper disposal.
