" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it provides me the opportunity to merge my passion for medicine with community impact. I believe healthcare is not only about treating disease but also about empowering people, and this fellowship will help me scale that vision in a meaningful way. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: CareSphere Project
This project is a combination of several individual initiatives aimed at improving community well-being and student support. It includes HIV testing and education to raise awareness and help individuals know their status, support group sessions to promote mental health awareness, student aid programs particularly for foreign students, and visits to the local homeless shelter to provide assistance and engagement. By integrating health education, emotional support, and social outreach, the project addresses multiple community needs, empowers participants with knowledge and resources, and fosters a culture of care, inclusion, and support within both student and local communities.
About the Millennium Fellow
Ukana Victory Omime is a medical student at the University of Novi Sad, Serbia, originally from Nigeria. Having observed the stigma and lack of awareness surrounding mental health, she developed a strong passion for advocacy and education in this field. Growing up in a society where mental health struggles are often misunderstood, she hopes to change this narrative through awareness campaigns and social initiatives. Victory hopes to use her medical background and leadership potential to create inclusive spaces that promote well being.
