" "To be innovative, motivated, improve Leadership skills and be more informed"
I highly feel motivated to be part of the Millennium Fellowship because I feel it's the right platform that will help me discover the inner side of me that I haven't discovered. Through participation, I can improve greatly on a personal level my leadership skills, innovation and efficiency. Because I want to learn more about my career pathway as an international relations student, I feel I can improve my networking skills and be more informed in the choices I make future wise. I endeavor in leadership because I crave for a change in mindset for myself and fellow women out here who feel unmotivated and useless in their society and bring back that pride and feeling that they matter. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Educative Donation & Environmental Awareness

The Inclusive Smart Waste Management Education Initiative is a youth-led climate awareness project designed to bring environmental education to children living with disabilities at the Home of Happiness in Foxdale, Chamba Valley. Led by Millennium Fellow Esther Hatontola, the project teaches practical smart waste management, hygiene, and environmental care through interactive, child-friendly activities. Alongside the lesson, essential learning and hygiene supplies were donated to improve the children's daily environment. The project advances SDG 13 (Climate Action) by promoting community environmental awareness and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by ensuring children with disabilities are included in climate learning and empowerment efforts.

About the Millennium Fellow

Esther Hatontola is a young ecstatic, compassionate, innovative and inclusive soul born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia. Esther is adaptive in different spaces as she loves to network with different people from different backgrounds but naturally nonchalant and introverted. She has been trying to overcome that part of her through continuous volunteering and attending events and functions where there are people and tries to connect with them not just formally but emotionally. She doesn't come from a comfortable society or environment that encouraged youth innovation or women leadership but were taught how to live off others hard work (men) and have a housewife mindset. She is an assertive, intentional and goal oriented figure that wishes to break free from that mindset through leadership and mentorship sessions that will help her develop professionally and personally.
