University of Eldoret | Eldoret, Kenya | Advancing SDG 13, SDG 15 & UNAI 9

" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it allows me to connect my journey in engineering with a deeper purpose: serving people. For me, innovation is not just about solving technical challenges, but also restoring dignity, nurturing mental wellbeing, and building spaces where communities feel seen and supported. The Fellowship gives me a platform to learn, share, and scale this vision with others equally committed to shaping a more compassionate and sustainable future. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Green
Project Green is an environmental sustainability initiative aimed at transforming underutilized and barren spaces into vibrant green zones at the University of Eldoret where students can study, relax, and connect with nature. Through the planting of 100 trees and the creation of eco-friendly study areas, the project seeks to enhance campus aesthetics, support biodiversity, and promote a culture of environmental responsibility among students. The goals of the project are as follows: (1) Plant 100 trees across identified barren areas on campus and achieve at least a 90% survival rate through consistent maintenance, (2) Engage at least 200 students in sustainability and environmental awareness activities through volunteer tree care programs and campus clean-up drives. (3) Collaborate with the university’s Environmental Department to develop a long-term care and monitoring plan for the planted trees. (4) Document and share impact stories highlighting the project’s contribution to SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
